‘Thanks so much for our day of reflection. A great way to start the year for me. It made me realise that our spiritual life needs the help of a structure or framework to enrich our relationship with God. It poses a challenge!’
Retreat Schedule 2020.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 all retreats are postponed until further notice.
‘A retreat offers the opportunity to step back, focus, reflect and return replenished and refreshed in friendship with God.’
Our retreats in the first half of 2020 will be built around the theme of prayer. Prayer is the very foundation upon which the Oratory is formed and Micha & Jayne are engaged in exploring the nature and character of practical personal and group prayer.
Join with us as together as we listen to God’s voice and explore how we might grow into Christian maturity as we discover and serve God’s purpose for ourselves in our day and generation.” Micha & Jayne.
Dates for 2020:
Friday March 13, 2020: Lent Retreat. Praying from within a wilderness. £50:00
Lent is the season when Jesus waited and fasted in the wilderness. Here he faced the three temptations that threatened to destroy his ministry. There is much in life that we find challenging. Uninvited and unwelcome interruptions that appear to steal our life from us and rob us of God’s presence.
How to pray from within such a wilderness is challenging; both finding the motivation and maintaining hope. Both Micha and Jayne have experienced long wilderness seasons and struggled to continue in prayer and hope.
This retreat will look at praying when in a desert drawing upon the experience of Jesus in the wilderness. It will offer support and encouragement to all those with desert experience and look to finding a practical path through the desert.

Friday April 24, 2020: Finding Sacred space in Everyday Life £50:00
The word sacred means holy or consecrated. Sacred space is that which is set aside for God. Today, in our busy lives, we tend to compartmentalise life. We invest in work time, we enjoy personal and family/friendship time and a host of other daily demands.
Yet, God is present both within and beyond time, and invites us, moment by moment, to consecrate the whole of our lives to being attentive to God’s presence.. How might every moment of my day become inhabited with God’s presence alongside my own? How might I learn to ‘pray without ceasing’, as St. Paul urges (1Thessalonians 5:17)?

Friday June 5, 2020: Finding God in pain, disappointment & loss. £50:00
Life can deal anyone of us a challenging situation. We encounter unanticipated and unwanted circumstances which are completely unwelcome. Why do bad things happen to God’s people? Are there lessons that can support me on my journey?
This day offers an opportunity to discover God in our fractured lives and together determine how we might draw some comfort from the journey we never expected. For eighteen years Micha was full time carer for his first wife Katey as she battled progressive MS until her death. Jayne experienced painful divorce, life as a single mum and faces a daily chronic pain condition. Join us as we go in search of bread for our journey through life.
Friday July 3, 2020: An introduction to Contemplative Prayer. £50:00
Contemplation has been practiced since the birth of Christianity. It is an approach to prayer that leads us to gaze upon the majesty of God. In contemplation, it is not what we bring to God, but invites God to make God known to us in the stillness of our own heart.
This day will provide a brief background to contemplative prayer, its place within the life of the Christian community and practical opportunity to explore this prayer style.

Hi Caroline. We are outside Romsey, Hampshire. Send me an email and I can send information on retreat days and more. Email stcuthbertsoratory.com.
Hi. I live in Norwich, It’s a long way to come for a day’s retreat.
The two major operations I had at the end of 2017, did not after all result in my loosing my faith, but I feel some what isolated among the happy clappy and the enthuiastic young Christians in my church. I wonder if for me cynicism has set in. I have no-one to refer to.
Having been ill in one way or another most of my life, my choice is to live and live productively, but I know I am not supposed to journey alone.
Many Blessings Rachel
Do you do retreat ‘vouchers’? It’s my mum’s birthday soon and I d like to buy her a retreat day but leave her to book the one she’d like to do. Might that work?

Thank you, that would be amazing! What is the best way to do this? Shall I transfer the money and you email me the invitation? My email is krkyle@hotmail.co.uk if so. Best wishes and all blessings, Katie
I am just following up about the voucher for my mums birthday. It’s on 16 Feb so I was hoping to ge it sorted out this week so I can print it off and post it to her. Is not best to email you? I sent an email in December and wasn’t sure you’d had it so thought this might be better way to get in touch.
Best wishes
Katie Kyle
Please could you add me to your email list? I receive the daily notes. If I had the opportunity I would visit the oratory.
I know that everything has been postponed because of covid – 19.
Thank you
